At the start of each battle, characters Will be in different Zones facing different enemies, so you can end up in a situation where for example, Luffy is facing two enemies, Zoro is facing one enemy and Nico and Nami are facing another two enemies together. The cool thing about this system, imo, are the Zones mechanics. You can change characters at any point in battle, as long as the character haven't acted yet. So, the Idea is to use a combination of characters (you can have 4 at the same type plus NPCs) to match the enemy weakness. These types work in a rock-paper-scisors way: Power beat Speed, who beat Technique, who beat Power. Theses types can't change, so for example, Luffy Will always be a Power-Type character, while Usopp is always a Speed one. Let's start with how it works: each character in battle have one of 3 types: Power, Speed or Technique. Gameplay: I liked it overall, but it is a experimental system and have a few flaws. These moments are cool, but will be lost to a non-fan. Like seeing the reactions of all Strawhats members at the end of Marineford, for example. Also, the best part about the story are the characters reactions to events that allready happened, but now from a new perspective. For those that know nothing about One Piece, the story does a good job of keeping a few things explained, but you will be lost a lot of the time, specially with characters names and locations, they don't explain ALL of It. If you are a One Piece fan, the story happens somewhere between Dressrosa and Whole Cake, but it is a little uncertain (since Dressrosa allready happen and they know about Sanji's past, but are reunited without Wano happening yet). It is nothing spectacular, but does the job. Story: There is nothing special about it, the Strawhats are stranded on a mysterious Island and lose their powers (and some memories), with the story following them finding a way to regain what they Lost. It have some people responsible for DQ XI in the Dev team, so my spectations were kinda high, specially since I'm a huge One Piece fan. So, I just finished One Piece Odyssey with 100% completion (got the Platinum and all) and Just want to share my review of it.įor those that don't know, One Piece Odyssey is a turn based RPG set in the manga/anime world of One Piece, following a original, non-canon, story writen by the creator itself.
